StartPort startup PARKLAB Technologie GmbH Digitizes and Automates Parking Management in the Port of Duisburg

The StartPort start-up PARKLAB Technologie GmbH from batch 4 makes it possible to determine the occupancy of parking spaces in real time. This information is passed on via software to car drivers, who can easily find a parking space at their destination via an app.

That Start port-Startup PARKLAB Technology GmbH From batch 4, it is possible to determine the occupancy of parking spaces in real time. This information is passed on via software to car drivers, who can easily find a parking space at their destination via an app.

In Order to Get an Even Better Overview of the Occupancy of Parking Spaces in the Terminals, the Duisport-Group on this increase in efficiency in the Port of Duisburg.

The Cooperation has now been launched with the installation of the necessary sensors on the parking areas of Duisport-Logport III terminals on the former Duisburg-Hohenbudberg Marshalling Yard.

In addition to recording the current parking space usage, the startup's solution also allows statements to be made about the daily and monthly number of vehicles, the total but also average parking time and the daily traffic volume. Thanks to the connected software, it is then possible to find numerous optimization solutions.

sire Mirco Nolte — Press Spokesperson at PARKLAB Technology GmbH, stood Start port available for an interview.

Question 1: How can your innovative technology make work processes more efficient?

Thanks to our sensor technology, processes can be optimized, especially in Logport III parking areas, as the usable space for truck trailers can be used in the best possible way. For Duisport Is it now transparently visible how long a trailer stays in the respective parking lot and it is therefore possible to deduce how long a trailer needs until it leaves the area again and what run I have with it. The existing company data is combined with the collected PARKLAB Integrates data, thus helps PARKLAB In optimising supply chain management and offers an even more efficient solution for the logistics industry.

Question 2: What added value do you see from installing the sensors in logistics and specifically on Logport III?

The points raised, such as greater transparency and traceability of the individual trailer downtimes, but also optimizations regarding the use of the space. The processes should be optimized through evaluations on the dashboard. We also hope to increase safety on the site through the installation, as we want to avoid “wild” parking of trailers through process optimization, as there are ideally enough parking bays available.

Question 3: How does cooperation with Europe's largest inland port work? What challenges are there in collaboration and what is going well?

We are happy and proud to have such a strong partner as Duisport To know by our side. The talks were always open and agreements were kept. Of course, we hope that this collaboration will enable us to implement further projects. Through the “short line” between Start port and Duisport, we were always able to stay in touch, which was of course a huge advantage for us. Start port He was always a reliable partner for us, who was always available to answer various questions.

Question 4: What is the current status of collaboration? What successes/insights were you able to achieve?

The installed sensors reliably provide the required data and further projects are to follow. We want to implement a few more things together and expand cooperation.

Question 5: How is it going now with the collaboration with Duisport continue?

Duisport Continues to be a reliable partner for us and, of course, an important reference. The experiences of Duisport Should also be communicated to other partners and thus advertised. For us, it's great on the network of Duisport To be able to fall back on.

Question 6: What are your future goals?

Our goal is to establish ourselves on the national and international markets and to use our system in the area. Projects with Cities and Municipalities that have already received promises should be implemented. We have also applied to other innovation competitions and are in various discussions.

Question 7: How can the City of Duisburg continue to develop with your solution?

The City of Duisburg can benefit from our solution in various applications. An example of this would be that the trucks that circulate through public roads are steered more efficiently on their way to their destination. This eliminates the problem of chaotic driving behavior and you don't have big trucks blocking the roads on public transport. In order to further improve traffic chaos, we can drastically reduce parking search traffic using our sensors in combination with our app. A nice side effect would be to reduce CO2 emissions due to reduced traffic, which would help make climate goals more achievable. We would also have the opportunity to support law enforcement officers and thus ensure fairer parking by being able to receive more targeted warnings in the event of parking violations. Along with more transparency for Duisburg citizens, where can I find a free parking space, digital parking ticket and warning function before a parking ticket expires, this would lead to higher citizen satisfaction. Another area of application is urban planning, because I can see exactly how much a parking area is being used or not. From this, I can deduce whether a parking space is in the right place, whether the parking spaces are sufficient, or whether I need to change areas. The sensors therefore not only provide beneficial data for the company Duisburger Hafen AG, but supports municipal offices in their daily work and measures.

About PARKLAB:
PARKLAB Technology GmbH Determines the occupancy of public and private parking spaces in real time and transmits this information to your software. Drivers can thus use an app to find a parking space at their destination, be navigated there and pay the parking fees in the app. With the help of PARKLAB Developed dashboards enable companies and municipalities to get a precise overview of the utilization of their own parking spaces and manage them more efficiently, ecologically and economically.
