It was an exciting time yesterday at Startport in Duisburg's inner harbor. The so-called ELID was played live for the third time by Startport and ZENIT GmbH in collaboration with EEN NRW/NRW.Europe hosted.

The moderation of Rim H.M. Stroeks 🇪🇺 led all participants and viewers through the program items in a humorous and relaxed way. Starting with a short welcome from StartPort managing director Johannes Franke and Benno Weissner of ZENIT GmbH Was it with the keynotes from Erik Wirsing (DB Schenker) and Philip Evans (The European Freight and Logistics Leaders' Forum) continue. On the one hand, it was about the importance of the innovative ideas of startups in the logistics sector and on the other hand about the challenges of the supply chain.

After a Q&A, which included answers to questions from the community, an exciting panel discussion continued. In this context, Startport made a shoutout to this year's sponsor Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH, which enabled ELID to take place in this large form. Frank Speer from the BMR moderated the panel discussion on the topic of “Internationalization” and spoke with Pelagie Mepin-Köbel (Everysens), Bart Takkenkamp (Wuunder) and Theodor Preststulen (Mavisoft) about their locations on the international market.

A total of 12 startups filled the categories “Drones & Robotics”, “Sustainable Logistics” and “Supply Chain Resilience” with innovative pitches and managed to present their idea digitally and live in 5 minutes. This allowed the matchmaking part to begin at the end of the event without delay.

Corporates presented an important item on the agenda and an innovation this year Wahl GmbH & Co. Spedition logistics company, DIT Duisburg Intermodal Terminal GmbH Trinodale Transhipment Terminal And the Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg — AöR Dar. They each formulated a call for proposals in advance, the so-called “challenge”, and thus offered founders the opportunity to apply for the challenge with their innovation. As Erik Wirsing would now say: “Always be hungry for innovation. ”

The second day — on which corporates and startups were able to get to know each other in the matchmaking part of the event and network for future projects — also went smoothly! Now it remains to be seen what exciting collaborations will result from the matchmaking event. And of course to look forward to seeing you again next year!
