If you want to be successful with your start-up, you need more than just an innovative idea and a lot of perseverance. A strong network is also an essential part of the recipe for success. The Duisburg-based innovation platform startport has been helping here since 2017. Together with young founders, startport develops ambitious logistics solutions and brings together startups, investors and companies from the logistics sector. And this was very successful, as a recent example shows: In June 2020, the Cologne-based startup how.fm was able to win over Bohnen Logistik, the duisport Group's contract logistics company, with the help of the StartPort network.
“how.fm has been part of our accelerator program since May 2019,” says Peter Trapp, managing director of startport. “The technology convinced us right from the start because it offers a solution to the shortage of skilled workers in logistics. Working with Bohnen Logistik is the perfect end to a successful time spent together. ”
Digital “foremen”
The startup how.fm offers a digital trainer for multilingual training and support for employees, trainees and temporary workers in logistics. Mobile workers are guided step-by-step through operational rules and work processes via interactive learning videos. Also accompanying you at work, via voice interaction. The special feature: The platform automatically translates training content into the workers' native language. Around 20 languages are already available, and more are to follow, says Andreas Kwiatkowski, one of the founders and managing director of how.fm: “Our training platform enables our customers to train, retrain or retrain hundreds of employees simultaneously in a very short period of time. At the same time, our customers are using the training platform to increase the productivity and quality of operational processes. Contactless training and assistance from a distance are particularly important at the current time. ”
Since the end of June this year, Bohnen Logistik has been using how.fm software for training on warehouse logistics, from support in occupational safety topics to order picking processes and onboarding new employees. “The how.fm platform is an ideal addition to our traditional employee training courses, which of course continue to take place,” says Julian Schneider, Head of Sales & Customer Services at Bohnen Logistik. “With digital how.fm training, work processes and content, such as safety training, can be refreshed and short-term changes, such as packaging processes, can be communicated and implemented quickly, agilely and intuitively via the platform. We now have a vivid process description without language barriers. ”
“A motivating technology solution”
The issue of personnel often plays a decisive role in the logistics sector — as is the case with Bohnen Logistik. “We are always looking for qualified employees,” continues Volker Grzybowski, managing director of Bohnen Logistik. “Our employees come from many countries, and the language barrier in training and practical support was often a problem. We are pleased that we can now offer our employees a motivating technical solution that is multilingual and personalized. In this way, we promote knowledge management and intercultural cooperation in our company, improve the quality of work and create modern working conditions. ”
By working with how.fm, the logistics company expects secure and high-quality processes through better-trained personnel, relieving the workload of key people and increasing productivity.
