Rhenus Port Logistics: A strong partner for startport

The Rhenus Group's port terminals ensure the smooth running of supply chains along European waterways. “Our ports not only serve as a hub for multimodal handling and transportation of goods, but also as a place for interim storage. We are currently equipping the Rhine-Ruhr sites with digital and intelligent solutions along the entire supply chain. One or the other startport start-up could certainly help us with this,” explains Michael Petersmann, managing director of Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr, part of the Rhenus Group, one of the leading global logistics service providers. A wide range of specialist areas come together here: from automotive to contract logistics, warehousing, outsourcing and planning to customs processing.

Pilot projects between partners and startups

As a subsidiary of Duisburger Hafen AG, startport has built up a strong partner network over 5 years of existence. This includes regional players such as Bohnen Logistik, Duisburg Intermodal Terminal and Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg. Among other things, they are linked to specific startups in so-called Innovation Challenges and can thus successfully launch pilot projects. With this new format from startport, tailor-made innovations are assigned to the right companies and development at the Duisburg location is driven forward. In addition, through program funding, the partners promote entrepreneurship in the logistics and supply chain sector at the Duisburg location.
