The StartPort start-up Cargo-Bay was able to win duisport agency GmbH (dpa), a subsidiary of Duisburger Hafen AG (duisport), as its first customer and is developing the digital B2B booking platform for multimodal transport for dpa. With the Cargo-Bay logistics platform, not only are the otherwise analog freight processing processes digitized, but other companies, branches and employees across Europe are also digitally connected. The start-up thus ensures an optimal process flow and saves time and costs.
Founded in 2015, the logistics start-up was included in 2018 with the innovative booking platform in the first batch of the startport start-up program, the innovation platform for logistics and supply chain. During the 12-month StartPort program, the exchange was initiated by startport and the logistics start-up was able to win dpa as a customer. “Existing market solutions were impracticable and too expensive. That is why we chose the startup Cargo-Bay. The startport team knew dpa's requirements and was therefore able to set up the project in a targeted manner,” explains Gregor Marx, Head of Investments and M&A at duisport.
As part of the cooperation with dpa, Cargo-Bay developed an individual booking platform. In particular, this platform was adapted to multimodal transport processes to and from China, which were previously analog and very complex. The developed booking platform gives customers a complete overview of reliable and cost-effective intermodal transport chains in combined transport. Transport orders are now also processed more effectively and thus enables faster delivery to the customer. The feedback on the collaboration is positive: Individual requirements for the startup were implemented agilely and quickly, and communication was on equal footing.
The collaboration was only possible thanks to the startport innovation platform. “Without Startport, we would not have received the contract from DPA. Kudos, I would definitely recommend the program,” says Max Dering, CEO and founder of Cargo-Bay. “Even as an alumni, I still feel part of startport.” Networking via startport also ensured a positive customer relationship: “The connection to startport makes cooperation more pleasant,” says Max Dering. “We noticed that we are not the typical service provider, but actually belong to the duiSport family.” Through the collaboration with dpa, the start-up became acquainted and received positive media feedback and also drew the attention of other companies.
