Duisburg, 29.06.2023 — Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH has joined the partner network of the duiSport subsidiary startport.

With the new partner, startport is bringing a strong location promoter on board and thus strengthening its focus on attracting startups and driving innovations forward in Duisburg and the surrounding area. This has been supported by the StartPort program for more than five years and is strengthening the region economically with innovations.

The cooperation brings Duisburg as a location forward in an innovative way

As the location and economic development of the city of Duisburg, Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH (DBI) aims to improve the spatial, social and economic structure of the city. Rasmus C. Beck, CEO of DBI, is delighted with the collaboration: “In Duisburg, we rely on cooperation. For garage DU, we need high-quality startups and therefore draw on the scouting expertise of the long-standing Duisburg innovation platform startport. In the future, we also want to implement further projects together with the StartPort network of over 120 international founders. We see ourselves as Team Duisburg. ”

Since last year, Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH has focused on innovative progress through startups with its “garage DU” project. With the topics of digitization, climate protection and the circular economy, garage DU is moving the city forward. The highlight is the publicly accessible Demo Night on October 26, 2023 in Landscape Park North. Here, selected teams of founders present their innovations on stage and have the chance to be selected as winners by the jury of experts at the end. There is also an extensive innovation fair and much more.

“In the middle of last year, we changed a number of things to the STARTPORT program and intensified our focus on innovative ideas within the Rhine-Ruhr region. In doing so, we are not only strengthening the Port of Duisburg, but also making Duisburg more attractive as a location and promoting the establishment of startups in the region,” explains Alexander Garbar, managing director of startport.
